Rotary Club of Butterworth is an international service organisation.

Chartered in 1959, members of the Rotary Club of Butterworth, consisting of different professional backgrounds, provide humanitarian service to the community locally and internationally.

Rotary is a global network of 1.4 million neighbours, friends, leaders, and problem-solvers who see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change – across the globe, in our communities, and within ourselves.

Community service is the backbone of Rotary and this is why it appeals to many of its members. The needs of the local community continue to grow and this is why we constantly examine the assets and needs in our communities. We then execute our Club’s community service project which are relevant and effective.

With the aid from Micron Foundation & Micron Memory Malaysia Sdn Bhd, over 670 underprivileged children received free eye-glasses.

These children are from over 65 primary schools in Penang & Kedah.

Rotary is ever committed to the conservation of the environment.

To mark Rotary’s 117th birthday, we went “Plogging” at a recreational park in Seberang Jaya.  Plogging is a Swedish-origin word combining jogging & picking up litter

A joint project with the Penang Science Cluster (PSC), to train students of SRK Convent Butterworth in IT & Robotics.

We provided refurbished laptops & teach-ware in the form of the MicroBit kits. PSC provides the training to the teachers who in turn tutor the students in Standard 5.

When the world was hit by the pandemic, our Club scrambled to provide relief to the disabled, orphanages, underprivileged and poor families.

With a large contribution from the Micron Foundation, American Malaysian Chamber of Commerce and other corporate and individual sponsors, we were able to reach out to our local community.

Get involved and make a difference in the community you live and work. You can make a difference.
